At ROD, our team of buyers and water workers acquire the area's best Oyster seed from licensed seed collectors and set them in our grow out leases.
ROD's lease is divided into 50 plots, ranging in size from 0.5 to 0.65 acres. Each site is plotted with sets of GPS coordinates where growth, shape, mortality and meat index will be recorded for each site and then extrapolated to give us the data for all Oysters on the plot. In addition to this information, we have all the background data such as source, size at planting, date planted, etc.
Not only does this make for an extremely efficient inventory control, it also allows ROD to generate instant reports to respond to clients and government agencies alike.
At ROD, we touch our Oysters more by hand than by machine in a system that reaps consistencies unseen in bottom culture Oysters.
